  4. The full ISE Eiffel 3 graphical environment  is  now  available  on
  5. NEXTSTEP,  both  on  NeXT  hardware and Intel-based 486 and Pentium
  6. PCs.
  7.  
  8. Commercial licenses as well as special full-time student/faculty
  9. packages are available for both ISE Eiffel for NEXTSTEP and
  10. EiffelKits.
  11.  
  12. The license includes these components of the environment:
  13.      - EiffelBench: graphical development environment supporting compiling
  14.       (all modes: Melting Ice Technology for fast recompilation, generation
  15.        of portable C code, optimization), debugging, browsing etc.
  16.  
  17.      - EiffelVision: library for graphics and user interfaces.
  18.  
  19.      - EiffelBase: library of data structures and algorithms.
  20.  
  21.      - EiffelLex, EiffelParse: libraries for language analysis.

  25. ISE Eiffel 3 for NEXTSTEP includes a version of  EiffelBench  based
  26. upon NEXTSTEP and Display Postscript, with the addition of standard
  27. cut  and  paste  mechanisms  and  printing  of  any  windows.   The
  28. EiffelVision  library for NEXTSTEP allows the creation of graphical
  29. applications  that  are  fully  portable   between   the   NEXTSTEP
  30. environment  (where  they  are based on the NeXT AppKit and Display
  31. Post Script) and other X/Motif based platforms.

  33. ISE and Quarried Software (third-party vendor) have released  EiffelKits,
  34. a   special  NEXTSTEP-specific class library which contains the
  35. following components:
  36.  
  37.     - A class library that encapsulates the NeXT AppKit Objective-C
  38.       class library.
  39.  
  40.     - Online documentation in a form suitable for use with the NeXT
  41.       Digital Librarian for the standard ISE Eiffel 3 class libraries
  42.       (EiffelBase, EiffelLex, EiffelParse & EiffelVision) as well as
  43.       the EiffelKits class library. The documentation is in the form
  44.       of the ancestors and flat-short class listings.
  45.  
  46.     - A Palette for use with the NeXT Interface Builder that allows
  47.       graphical applications to be created using the Interface
  48.       Builder and the EiffelKits class library.

  50.     - Hard-copy documentation for EiffelKits in the form of the
  51.       ancestors and short-flat listings with an introductory chapter
  52.       describing the use of the class library in detail.

  57. Reminder: the fully graphical ISE  Eiffel  3  environment  is  also
  58. available on the following platforms:
  59.      DEC Alpha, DG Aviion, Fujitsu, HP 9000, IBM RISC 6000,
  60.      Pyramid, SCO Unix, Silicon Graphics, Sun (SunOS and Solaris 2.3),
  61.      DEC Ultrix.

  63. The non-graphical  version  of  the  environment  is  available  on
  64. Windows  (386 and above) in both a personal version (with no C code
  65. generation) and a professional version (including all facilities of
  66. the Unix version except for the graphics).  The graphical versions
  67. will be available at the end of the year.

  69. All ISE Eiffel versions are fully source-compatible with each other.
